A bank holiday can mean a lot to many people: an extra day off work, time to kick back, a trip to the pub or even just a lie-in. However you may wish to spend it, Glastonbudget should definitely be on your to-do list this upcoming platinum jubilee bank holiday. For just one day, or all three days, you can experience a festival like no other. We are talking original performances, tribute acts, local artists, and a theme of ‘The Best of British Weekend’.

Across the three days you have a generous offer of camping, so the moment you awaken you can put your fancy dress on or your favourite band T-shirt, and have a wander to one of the four stages in which music events will be taking place. You can catch the likes of The Bootleg Beatles on the main stage, the UB40 Experience on the Big Top stage, The Collective Band on the Icon stage, and The Verinos on the Loco stage. But remember, this is across three days, so there are triple the headliners, and triple the number of talents spread across the weekend.

There is a fairground for the kids, food and drink including a very well-stocked beer tent with a huge selection of real ales, and even the chance to participate in breaking a world record – the most people wearing a paper crown in one place at 4.45 on Friday!!!

I personally will be making my way to the event on Saturday, in which I have high hopes for such a collection of different genres, such as The Curehead (The Cure tribute), Take@That (Take That tribute), and original local Leicester band Her Burden. Expect to see me with a traditional cider in one hand, a paper hat on my head, bouncing between all the stages absorbing the atmosphere and thriving in the community that has been built on this very Leicestershire soil.

It is going to be a fantastic weekend, especially after two years of postponing this event. To those who carried their tickets forward from previous cancellations- thank you! Thank you for keeping this event alive and supporting not just local music and acts, but the livelihood of Leicestershire’s music industry. I truly hope you enjoy yourselves.
