Lauded by BBC Radio 2’s ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris as an incredibly exciting example of the new wave of blues, The Robert J Hunter Band has been making serious waves in the British blues scene in recent years. Adding just the right amount of dirt to their finely crafted blues melodies, the lads from Alderney have created a sound of their own while wearing the influences of the likes of Dr Feelgood and Taste proudly on their sleeves.
Curated by the excellent Cashbah Music Promotions, one would certainly expect a stellar line-up of local support, and we have not been disappointed. Main support on the evening comes from the superb Nile Deltas. Worth the ticket price alone, The Delta boys provide their audience with a masterclass in southern style classic rock absorbing the influences of both blues and soul in creating some seriously high calibre music.
Also on the bill is one of Leicester’s hidden gems, the outstanding Jesse Wright. Soulful, smoky vocals, laid over beautiful jazz and pop inspired tunes, Jesse is without doubt one of the best female vocalists in the city.
