Pocket Watch

One of the most appealing releases we have had in is Pocket Watch, released by Leicester band Trilogy. Their EP will be launched on 30th August at The Musician. But track three is available online now:

Heart From A Bottle is available on Soundcloud.

Trilogy is one of the finest music groups in Leicester; their offering of blues rock is superb. Jazz, funk, soul; it all adds up to a deliciously ear-pleasing cocktail of musical delights.

Shootout – the second track from Pocketwatch – is also on Soundcloud.

When I saw Trilogy at The Musician, in April, I said

This trio of musicians from Market Harborough is now, in my view, one of the finest in the county. The band’s fusion of jazz, blues and funk is phenomenal. On stage there are always three instruments – guitar, drums and keyboard. Interestingly, they were played by different musicians who swapped seats during their set.

and I stand by that because I have been listening to the band’s tracks over the past few days and I can honestly it’s some of the best music I have heard from a local band in recent times. The vocals are wonderful, the instrumental playing superb, the chemistry between the band members can be felt even in the recorded output.

What can I say about Trilogy’s music that I have not said before? It’s highly skilled; it’s taught; it’s completely engaging. There is such a fluent synergy among the three musicians and this makes them absorbing to watch. They make music of high calibre. It not that they play jazz, blues and funk; it’s the way they do it. – Music in Leicester magazine

MIL plans to be at the Musician on 30th August to see Trilogy live; watch for our review.

Sick

Silencers new EP Sick was mastered by Neil Seagrott. ‘A rock band currently recording their first album. Andy Garratt and Karl Thompson make a great team and will be announcing shows soon’, it says on the band’s Facebook page. Not to be confused with The Silencers, a band from Scotland.

I listened to some of their tracks on Soundcloud recently and I was immediate struck but their engaging rhythms and tense, pounding sounds. When this band get’s going I think they are really go rock the scene.

Touching Stones Tasting Rain

Kevin Hewick is a prolific artist, it might be said.  Hewick is one of Leicester’s finest singer-songwriters it has to be said.

The long delayed new album ‘Touching Stones Tasting Rain’ will be launched at last in an event presented by Magic Teapot at The Musician Clyde Street Leicester next Wednesday August 31st. My guests are all people involved in the creation of this album, it’s an incredible line up – there will be sets from: Jim Tetlow, Tom Lewitt, Bluebird Parade, Ash Mammal and myself.’

We read on Hewick’s Facebook page.

We look back to the release of The Heat Of Molten Diamonds in 2013; commentators at the time hailed Hewick as one of Leicester’s greatest singer songwriters, a sentiment we are happy to endorse.

It’s going to be a busy week for us here.

The Journey

Flight15 is a band we have reviewed many times before.

Flight15’s track The Journey is on YouTube.

Pubished in June, this is the band’s official video, footage taken from their live EP launch at the O2 Academy 3 in Birmingham . The track is taken from the debut EP of the same name. Also on this release are Inside, Glitter and Gold. In the video you can see straight away what makes this one Leicester’s most immediately likeable bands and their live appearances have huge amounts of traction.

Jenn Bostick

Critically acclaimed U.S. singer songwriter Jenn Bostic is back with a soulful new record, What Love Feels Like (Radio Edit) and an acoustic tour of the UK. Bostic debuted the new version at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, on the 23rd of July, along with her song Little Grace.  Her record is set to release with an official music video on the 2nd of September and Bostic will be appearing in Leicester on Sunday, 4th of September, at The Musician. Jenn Bostic appeared on BBC Breakfast in 2012, performing her #1 single Jealous of the Angels, and on Songs of Praise in 2015, singing her track Little Grace from her current album Faithful. She was the First American Independent Artist to have their first three singles playlisted at BBC Radio 2. In 2012 she was the recipient of five Independent Country Music Association Awards including “Best Songwriter,” “Best Female Artist” and “Overall Winner.” She had the honor of performing on Weekend Wogan for the late Sir Terry as part of a special St. Patrick’s Day show, as well as Good Morning Sunday.
