2015: acts announced for the festival weekend.

The line-up of 53 local bands who will join headliners British Sea Power and Alabama 3 for the Simon Says…2015 festival on July 25 and 26, has today been announced by organisers De Montfort Hall, The Donkey, Firebug and The Musician.

Confirmed for Simon Says…2015 are the alternative country/Americana act The Hardy Band whose singer songwriter Jay Hardy writes wonderfully mature and classic songs which are sure to delight the Simon Says… audience. There will be perfect summer sounds from five-piece band Marrakesh Express who play classics from The Byrds and Crosby Stills Nash & Young; effervescent witch-punk band Ash Mammal and Leicester favourites Nylon 9 who will be performing ahead of the release of their debut album.

Co-organiser Matt Kirk from Firebug commented; “It is great to have such a diverse and high quality Leicester-music line-up playing in such a family friendly environment.”

Already announced Leicester bands in the line-up include former Happy Mondays guitarist Kav Sandhu in his solo incarnation Kav; The Moderators will bring huge floor-filling mod and ska anthems, and The Brandy Thieves a crowd-pleasing blend of gypsy rhythms with punk energy and folk storytelling. 7-piece band El Pussycat perform authentic, Jamaican ska and reggae; there will be roots/reggae from Tann-I Browne and the Ankh Band; Goldwater will bring their unique brand of wild, energetic blues rock and Clubs will fill the stage with their huge sound.

Darren Nockles from The Musician commented; “I’m particularly looking forward to hearing Ash Mammal and Sean Grant & The Wolf Gang – they represent the wealth of creative talent and are just the tip of the wonderful ice burg of local and regional acts to be discovered”.

The event, which was first staged in 2013 as part of the Hall’s centenary celebrations, transforms the hall and grounds into a perfect place to relax with friends, listen to great music and enjoy a wide range of food and drink. Simon Says…2015 really does promise music for every taste, a range of bars, varied craft and food stalls, and a children’s activity area for younger visitors.

Tickets for Simon Says… are on sale now. Weekend tickets at special advance purchase prices, cost £30 for adults, £20 for students, £10 for under-16s and £7.50 for under-10s. Under-5s get in free but still need to book a ticket.
