Violet Cities wins Play@LMF<\/h2>\n

Leicester band Violet Cities<\/strong> tonight won the finals of the Play@LMF competition. \u00a0Five bands played at tonight’s finals show held at Streetlife club in the city centre. Winning the finals guarantees the band a prime stage slot at the Leicester Music Festival, to be held at the Tigers Rugby stadium on 25th and 26th July. \u00a0Show organisers said that this will give the band an audience of over 20,000 music fans.<\/p>\n

LEICESTER BAND FERRIS RELEASE ENGLAND WORLD CUP FAN ANTHEM – \u2018A Love As Big As England<\/em>.\u2019<\/h2>\n

FERRIS,<\/strong> who are well known on the Leicestershire music scene, wrote recorded and mixed the track which is planned for release 09\/06\/2014 and features BBC Radio Sports Commentator John Sinclair.<\/p>\n

The bands nucleus of Scott Grocock and Rob Bourgault have been song writing and performing since their early teens and as such have supported bands including Radiohead, Corner Shop, and Asian Dub Foundation.<\/p>\n

The band\u2019s ex drummer Justin Welch went onto form Elastica and also joins forces regularly with Suede. Both the lead singer Scott Grocock and lead guitarist Rob Bourgault have, in previous line-ups, supported & worked with big hitters including OMD and Crowded House.<\/p>\n

The band influences range from Elvis Presley and The Beatles to Radiohead, Oasis and Kasabian.<\/p>\n

A Love As Big As England will be available from 09\/06\/2014 as a digital single download from all the major online stores including iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay, Spotify and Myspace Music. The track will also be available direct from the band and website in the form of a four track CD Maxi Single with acoustic and edited versions.<\/p>\n

A Love As Big As England is currently under consideration for sync use by BT Sport Channel JJB Sports Stores & Midlands based brewers, Everards.<\/p>\n

A Love As Big As England is currently streamed online at soundcloud as a listen only track & is being aired on rotation by radio stations across the country.<\/p>\n

A Love As Big As England will be nationally promoted into UK radio stations commencing 28\/4\/14 with broadcast opportunities available \u2013 six weeks prior to release. This campaign is being handled by Matrix Promo.<\/p>\n

The track will also be aired at regional football grounds on match days.<\/p>\n

Leicester’s Neon Sarcastic<\/strong> have announced their tour plans, \u00a0They are setting off in August to hit some great venues and to play with some awesome bands.<\/p>\n

Skam signed<\/h2>\n

Powerhouse Leicester three-piece band Skam<\/strong> kick off 2014 in fine style with the worldwide release of new single \u2018Rivers<\/em>\u2019 on February 24th. The track is taken from the forthcoming second album \u2018Peacemaker<\/span><\/em>\u2019 – set for a July 28th worldwide release, via their new label deal with Off Yer Rocka Recordings<\/strong>. A killer live band, they will be hitting the road again on a run of UK dates in February.<\/p>\n

Resin gain new drummer<\/h2>\n

Hinckley band Resin<\/strong> is pleased to finally get back to full speed after a six month hiatus from gigging since the departure of drummer Mark last summer. \u00a0After only one practice session, coffee, tea and beer, Danny Finch\u00a0 turned up, armed with our entire back catalogue nailed. \u00a0The band tried to break him by throwing its acoustic arsenal at him and still he didn’t waiver!<\/p>\n

So Resin is \u00a0happy to say that drummer Danny Finch<\/strong> has joined its ranks and will be with them on the road and in the studio!<\/p>\n

“Coming into Resin, half way through the writing session for our second album” Resin told us, \u00a0“he will bring a fresh outlook and his ideas are already making themselves known in the practice room and his enthusiasm and skills have blown us away!”<\/p>\n

Leicester band gets signed<\/h2>\n

Eden Avenue<\/strong>, formerly known as Vengeance, announced on their band’s FB page that they have been signed.\u00a0On 28th October the band posted that\u00a0We will be heading to the recording studio soon with MNA records! cant wait!\u00a0<\/em>On 20th October the band posted\u00a0We are excited to announce that we are now signed to MNA records!<\/em>\u00a0We can’t wait to bring you lots of new exciting stuff over the next few months, thank you so much to everyone who has supported us this far, you guys are the best!<\/em> – Eden Avenue.<\/p>\n

Midnight Wire announce second tour<\/h2>\n

Leicester band Midnight Wire<\/strong> announced today \u00a0that they \u00a0are back on tour for the second time this year.<\/p>\n

The band has \u00a0been busy recording their debut album (which is now finished) which is due to hit the shops in \u00a0March 2014. \u00a0The band will \u00a0be releasing a track in preparation for this and will have the first singles from the album out in January. \u00a0Tour dates booked so \u00a0far (with many more to be confirmed) include:<\/p>\n

Former members of the notorious GayeBykers On Acid<\/strong> and Crazyhead<\/strong> combine to create Swamp Delta<\/em><\/h2>\n

Parts of the South Wigston Anarchist Media Project,\u00a0<\/strong>Urgent News from the LA (Leicester Area) Swamp Delta.<\/p>\n

Recently various members of two giants of Late 80s Urban Bastard Blues \u2013 The Gaye Bykers on Acid and Crazyhead, \u2013 met, drank deep from the well of the Swamp Juice, lit the fire to the Delta Goddess and a Musical Marsh Monster was born.<\/p>\n

This numinous night time hatching precipitated a coalescing of the three Wigston troubadours into a new, ugly, deformed, Mutant Bastard Blues offspring called SWAMP DELTA. Ian Anderson \u2013 cover idol and bedroom trasher for Cult 80s Urban Bastard Blues Band Crazyhead growls at the front. Robber Byker, Mutoid Swamp Musician, bass player for the mighty Gaye Bykers crashed and thrashed on his Day glow Japanese guitar.<\/p>\n

Renown for his twin deck spin Zombie punk disc destruction, RB suckles at the torrid teat of Techno as well as embracing the Swamp Queen\u2019s Voodoo.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Legendary Porkbeast; Handlebarred Bass Bombshell for Crazyhead, leather clad Zombie blues master, Keeper of the Secret Source of Glene and Knight of the Wigston Delta, he strangled a solo out of his Vintage Valvetone Swampcaster. The Offspring? HEAVY WATER. These three 21st Century mass metal destructors have formed a new musical Collective SWAMP DELTA. All three were born and raised in the South Wigston Swamp Zone (an area perhaps best known for nurturing young pretenders Kasabian). Built on ancient marshlands next to the holy river Glene; a liminal-psychomagic sector where the Delta Queen is worshiped and the gift of music is granted. Lost tribes and swamp fauna fill their minds.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

ArtsIn plans roster of local bands<\/h2>\n

Leicester social enterprise company ArtsIn Productions has posted a page explaining why they are putting together a list of the top 30 bands in their local area. \u00a0The statement explains:\u00a0The company’s resources are limited. In order to reconcile our resources with the supply of artists and acts of all kinds, we have a roster<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The list has not been made public yet because not all the bands have agreed to be included.<\/p>\n

Leicester band Midnight Wire<\/em> had their latest track Never Gonna Leave LA<\/em> \u00a0played by Radio1 DJ Huw Stevens at Midnight on 14th August.<\/p>\n

BBC East Midlands tweeted: \u00a0\u00a0Congrats to @midnightwire whose Never Gonna Leave LA is @huwstephens pick on @BBCR1 (funnly enough, at midnight) tonight\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

New album and video from Ferris<\/h2>\n

Fans and followers of Leicester band Ferris<\/strong> been warmly greeted with the arrival of a\u00a0new album.<\/p>\n

The music video to the song Do You Mean It<\/em>\u00a0can be\u00a0found on YouTube. \u00a0Pathfinder<\/em> is the group\u2019s second album and follows\u00a0last year\u2019s \u00a0 debut Speak Up<\/em>. \u00a0The band’s nucleus of Scott and \u00a0Rob have been song-writing and performing since their\u00a0early teens and have supported bands such as Radiohead, Crowded House,\u00a0Corner Shop, Asian Dub Foundation, Honey Rider, The Milk, The Alarm, Modern\u00a0Faces, \u00a0Turin Breaks and Menswear, \u00a0to name a few. The time being right, the band \u00a0now wants to move\u00a0forewords under their own steam.<\/p>\n

Leicester’s By The Rivers will be performing on the BBC Introducing stage at the Glastonbury festival this year. They are one of a number of acts from the East Midlands that will on the festival’s stages. \u00a0BTR is playing this Glasto this Saturday and also\u00a0\u00a020th July at the \u00a0Rhythm Tree Festival, in \u00a0Isle of Wight.<\/p>\n

East Midlands acts appearing at the world famous festival this year include Jake Bugg, Izzie Marie Hill,\u00a0Singer Ady Suleiman, from Long Benington, Lincolnshire, Indiana from Long Eaton,\u00a0Siblings, from Ashbourne,\u00a0Ruen Brothers, from Lincolnshire and Nottingham band Dog is Dead.<\/p>\n

By The Rivers<\/strong> were at a show in London last night. \u00a0After performing in Germany over the weekend, the band will be supporting ska stars Madness<\/strong> at the Newark festival.<\/p>\n

You can see the band on \u00a0Saturday 22nd June at the \u00a0Condoun Club, Coventry and on Sunday 23rd June at the Warwick Summer Party.<\/p>\n

By The Rivers will be playing at the DeMontfort Hall on Saturday 27th July as part of the Simon Says shows. In September they play at Bestival in the Isle of Wight.<\/p>\n

Leicester band The Accidents<\/strong> played their last ever gig tonight. They performed at the O2 in a line-up headlined by Midnight Wire. The band had been active, playing at the Shed on several occasions and receiving positive reviews in Arts in Leicester magazine.<\/p>\n

Hinckley-based band Living Mystery announced that are to split up; \u00a0after several years of playing the band announced that some of its members had decided to leave and they could not therefore continued.<\/p>\n
