with Bile Caster, Democratus, Kharma, Plut\u00f8<\/strong>, Trendkill and Morass of Molasses<\/h2>\n

On Easter Sunday we had the triumphant return of Metal 2 The Masses<\/a> at Firebug<\/a> in Leicester. We had the pleasure to see three guest bands as well as three competitors, which led to an overall fantastic evening filled with a lot of good music and a fair amount of booze.<\/p>\n

The first band of the evening were Bile Caster<\/strong><\/a> who definitely set the bar high for all of the other competitors. The three-piece left me pleasantly surprised as I found myself enjoying doom metal once again despite me saying countless times in the past that it is not my cup of tea. But the guys in Bile Caster clearly played their hearts out and gave everyone an electric kick off of the evening. Even when the drum kit seemingly started falling apart during the last song the guys really took it in stride and continued without missing a beat.<\/p>\n

Also make sure to keep an eye out for future new releases by not just Bile Caster but all of the bands from tonight\u2019s gig, they are all definitely worth checking out.<\/p>\n

Bile Caster were followed by the first guest band for the night: Democratus<\/a><\/strong>, a melodic death metal band from South Wales. Which I had never had the pleasure of seeing before but I absolutely loved them. Along with brilliantly executed death metal despite guitar issues, they also brought a lot of crowd interaction which everyone in the room enjoyed.<\/p>\n

We then moved onto Kharma<\/strong><\/a>, the second competitors for the evening. The stoner rock four piece from Coventry were not only heavy but also melodic and insanely fun to watch. Everyone in the room seemed to enjoy themselves whilst they were on. The guys from Kharma and Bile Caster really set the bar high for their final competitors.<\/p>\n

The third competing band and ultimately the winners of this evening were Leicester based doom\/post metal band Plut\u00f8<\/strong><\/a>. The guys really brought not only a lot of talent but also an insane amount of stage presence specifically from their lead singer.<\/p>\n

I was also really impressed with his vocal range it was absolutely fantastic to watch these guys and they were definitely deserving of moving onto the semi-finals. Definitely one of the local bands which everyone should keep on their radar.<\/p>\n

Before we found out that Plut\u00f8 were the evening’s winners however, we had TrendKill and Morass of Molasses closing off the evening.<\/p>\n

I have seen both of them before and knew that both of these bands are a fantastic watch, which left me excited to see them perform again.<\/p>\n

TrendKill<\/strong> <\/a>brought their amazing mix of groove and thrash, which was an absolute pleasure to watch. The crowd may have been a bit tired at that point of the evening but TrendKill\u2019s energy really made sure everyone was still paying attention.<\/p>\n

And finally we had the headliners of the evening Morass of Molasses<\/strong><\/a>, who I have become a big fan off since my last time seeing them when writing for this magazine. They bring not only insanely skilled musicianship but also unmatched energy on stage with them.<\/p>\n

An absolute pleasure to watch and a phenomenal way to close off an already fantastic evening.<\/p>\n
