Three bands and a singer entertained a goodly-sized\u00a0crowd (for a Sunday night.)<\/p>\n<p>Young Blaby band <strong>Casino Empire<\/strong> provided an extremely good start to the evening. After being together for only 18 months, Casino Empire has become an extraordinarily good group.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2999\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2999\" style=\"width: 548px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Casino-Empires-Tommy-Cobley.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2999\" alt=\"Casino Empire's Tommy Cobley\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Casino-Empires-Tommy-Cobley-548x600.jpg?resize=548%2C600\" width=\"548\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Casino-Empires-Tommy-Cobley.jpg?resize=548%2C600&amp;ssl=1 548w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Casino-Empires-Tommy-Cobley.jpg?resize=274%2C300&amp;ssl=1 274w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Casino-Empires-Tommy-Cobley.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 548px) 100vw, 548px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2999\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Casino Empire&#8217;s Tommy Cobley<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Tommy Cobley&#8217;s role, as lead vocalist, delivered a strong voice and a theatrical level of stage presence that combined the swagger of Jagger with the mannerisms of Mercury.<\/p>\n<p>What stood out about this band was the way that the instrumentalists provided a tightly controlled but scintillating set of sounds, the Casino Empire performance being full of vigor, energy and pizzaz. Well orchestrated guitar work blended with a good vocal layer.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3001\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3001\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Casino-Empire-at-The-Shed.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3001\" alt=\"Casino Empire at The Shed\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Casino-Empire-at-The-Shed.jpg?resize=600%2C508\" width=\"600\" height=\"508\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Casino-Empire-at-The-Shed.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Casino-Empire-at-The-Shed.jpg?resize=300%2C254&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3001\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Casino Empire at The Shed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Backing the lead of Cobley were the vocals of Matt Gore on guitar and Jack Hall on Bass, giving the room fervently infectious rhythms, beltin&#8217; beats and blistering guitar flourishes &#8211; \u00a0they had it all.<\/p>\n<p>Sounding like The Arctic Monkeys crossed with Oasis, they brought us all that was best in contemporary indie rock.\u00a0Casino Empire is a band that most live music fans would want to see. Yes they did some well-known covers but they also played their own songs and, I have to say, they know how to write a good tune. Casino Empire&#8217;s cover version of the Oasis classic <em>Rock &#8216;n&#8217; Roll<\/em>\u00a0was particularly good &#8211; they smashed it with this.<\/p>\n<p>They ended their set with one of their own songs, their signature tune <em>Iguana<\/em>, one that was punchy, ballsy and well written.<\/p>\n<p>Casino Empire ticked all the boxes.<\/p>\n<p>Superb.<\/p>\n<p>F<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CasinoEmpireUK\" target=\"_blank\">ollow Casino Empire on Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dirty Fair,<\/strong> from Northampton, a four piece \u00a0band mixing indie with post-punk and garage rock delivered plenty of on-stage action. They had played with Midnight Wire this summer and were pleased to see some of the &#8216;Wire&#8217;s band members in the audience.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3004\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3004\" style=\"width: 537px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dirty-Fair.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3004\" alt=\"Dirty Fair\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dirty-Fair-537x600.jpg?resize=537%2C600\" width=\"537\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dirty-Fair.jpg?resize=537%2C600&amp;ssl=1 537w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dirty-Fair.jpg?resize=268%2C300&amp;ssl=1 268w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Dirty-Fair.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 537px) 100vw, 537px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3004\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dirty Fair<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With three good vocalists at the front, Dirty Fair provided an agreeable selection of songs\u00a0that had engaging melodic lines, foot-stomping beats and ear-pleasing guitar lines &#8211; they kept the show on the move.\u00a0<em>Dirty Fair&#8217;s development of driving rhythms, rapturous melodies and playful harmonies have seen them share the stage with the likes of &#8216;Peace&#8217; and fill a slot at Beach Break Live! \u00a0<\/em>Copy that.<\/p>\n<p>Excellent.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DirtyFair\" target=\"_blank\">Follow Dirty Fair on Facebook<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Liverpool&#8217;s <strong>Thomas McConnell<\/strong> provided the solo acoustic slot of the evening, also on his 2013 UK Tour.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, McConnell was hand-chosen by China Crisis to support them on their anniversary tour and more recently, he has been supporting Ian McNabb on <em>his<\/em> recent tour.
