In it’s 19th year and with a few changes afoot, Music in Leicester were thrilled to be covering the latest incarnation of ‘the original tribute festival’. Having reviewed Glastonbudget for the last kerzillion years (see the reviews here<\/a>), it was really good to be back again.<\/p>\n

Glastonbudget is the biggest local (Leicestershire) tribute music festival spanning over four days – 23rd to the 26th May, 2024.<\/p>\n

There have been some big changes as new management took over without as much time as they would have liked to put this year’s show together. This meant fewer bands, fewer people and a smaller festival as a result.<\/p>\n

Glastonbudget usually has a good mix of original bands who play to new audiences and tribute bands who people pay to go and see but this year, there were only a couple original bands and the rest were tributes. The footprint was also smaller, but this made for a more cosy feel. Big screens were also added to the main stage, which proved very handy for back-standers, or back-seaters, for that matter.<\/p>\n

The bands played on two and a half stages this year – the main stage and the big top, along with the acoustic stage in the bar which only had artists on late in the evening, after the main stage had closed.<\/p>\n

Glastonbudget is a family-friendly festival with fairground rides, dodgems and plenty of other activities for children (& like-minded adults!) of all ages, including toddlers.<\/p>\n

Drink – there was plenty beer – twenty or thirty casks of real ale (no fakes here!), along with ciders, lagers and plenty of other drinks in the huge bar – all of which made Music in Leicester’s reporters very happy! Beers started at a very reasonable \u00a35 a pint and were bought using tokens.<\/p>\n

Speaking about Music in Leicester’s reporters, here we are – with me, Kevin on the left, and Adam, who went on Sunday only.<\/p>\n

All the punters were extremely friendly as were the staff, I often found myself chatting & having a beer with various strangers, security guards and band members, not to mention the Michael Eavis (Glastonbury organiser) lookalike!<\/p>\n

Having arrived with the Mrs & her sister and our caravan in a soggy field & left in a muddy one, I can vouch for the extremely helpful & friendly staff who were more than willing to help push cars, caravans & motorhomes out of various boggy patches ensuring that no-one got stuck.<\/p>\n

Toilets – a special mention needs to go out to Lincs Loos<\/a> for tirelessly working hard over the weekend to keep the toilets clean and even fragrant (in a nice way!)!!! Judging by the social media comments – a lot of people appreciated them!<\/p>\n

Although this was a four day event, the first date (Thu 23rd May) had a couple of bands, but unfortunately, Music in Leicester couldn’t attend until the Friday.<\/p>\n
