With a vocal and musical style similar to their self-admitted influences The Arctic Monkeys and with a cover of \u2018<em>R U Mine?<\/em>\u2019 it was very difficult not to draw comparisons between them and the arena-filling band from Sheffield. An instrumental intro gave way to the band&#8217;s first offering \u2018<em>Novelette<\/em>\u2019, the audience appearing to appreciate their laid-back yet surprisingly technical sound. The four piece from Hinckley offered up plenty of original material, including older tracks such as \u2018<em>CATz<\/em>\u2019, the crowd pleasing \u2018<em>Cash Couplets<\/em>\u2019 and a yet untitled track debuted with lyrics for the first time. Their mellow, sunny vibe and chilled bass lines were very well received, prompting plenty of movement from the still growing crowd. Their overall sound carried any misgivings from the slightly limited lyrical content of some of their set list.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/surfffff\" target=\"_blank\">Surf on Facebook<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Playing a sold out show at the Cookie just prior to Christmas and making the cover of the January edition of free Leicester music magazine the Monograph you could say things are looking bright for <strong>Clubs\u00a0<\/strong>and, \u00a0based on their performance, \u00a0I can see why. All five of the lads from Leicester sounded spot on, tight drumming and grooving bass lines paved the way for some great guitar work and excellent vocals all adding to a sound that really seemed to fill the venue. Although the crowd was a little reluctant to take up lead singer CJ Pandit\u2019s invitation to clap along, the set was well received, the highlight being their new track \u2018<em>Bleed<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ClubsBand\" target=\"_blank\">Clubs on Facebook<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After a lengthy full-stage rebuild the evening\u2019s headliners <strong>Jaws<\/strong> arrived to a crowd reaction that can only described as an eruption, with girls and guys alike cramming to the front and appearing to know what was likely to ensue.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3489\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3489\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Jaws-Photo-Steve-Kilmister.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3489\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Jaws-Photo-Steve-Kilmister.jpg?resize=600%2C400\" alt=\"Jaws Photo Steve Kilmister\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Jaws-Photo-Steve-Kilmister.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Jaws-Photo-Steve-Kilmister.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3489\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jaws<br \/>Photo Steve Kilmister<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jaws\u2019 bright, almost glittery pop sound is set with a harder edge, and feels fresh while also being laced with a 90s retro air. The set tonight included the likes of \u2018<em>Toucan Surf<\/em>\u2019, <em>\u2018Stay In<\/em>\u2019, \u2018Breeze\u2019 and crowd favorite \u2018<em>Gold<\/em>\u2019, from the outset all were received like anthems. The whole set was well delivered, regardless of a few minor technical hitches that tried to get in the way, although it appeared that the partisan crowd were oblivious to such things.<\/p>\n<figure href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Jaws-image.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3488\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Jaws-image.jpg?resize=540%2C480\" alt=\"Jaws image\" width=\"540\" height=\"480\" their performance at the Leicester Academy, I would say it\u2019s well deserved if for nothing more than their ability to incite a crowd sing-along and produce the most melodic, dancy pit you\u2019ll
