We saw an ensemble of musicians feeding\u00a0off each other&#8217;s vibes such that, even ig you were not a folkie fan, this was good music to captivate and hold you attention. Career&#8217;s appealing songs provided a richly good start to the evening,\u00a0delivering lively, upbeat tunes and melodies. If you are not already a fan of careen, tonight&#8217;s set\u00a0would certainly have won you over.<\/p>\n<p>Careen has an album of their music out now, get more details\u00a0from their <a href=\"http:\/\/careen.bandcamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">bandcamp site<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/careenmusic\" target=\"_blank\">Follow Careen on Facebook<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was good to see so many members of Leicester&#8217;s music community in the room tonight; always a\u00a0good sign when musicians who are not part of the line-up are there to support those who are. Many\u00a0well-known muserti faces in the crowd tonight bore witness to this being as auspicious event.\u00a0One of Leicester&#8217;s most popular bands took to the stage.<\/p>\n<h2>The Brandy Thieves<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3687\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3687\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Brandy-Thieves.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3687\" alt=\"The Brandy Thieves Photo Rob Gurney (Digital-Mechanic)\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Brandy-Thieves.jpg?resize=600%2C404\" width=\"600\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Brandy-Thieves.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.musicinleicester.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Brandy-Thieves.jpg?resize=300%2C202&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3687\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Brandy Thieves<br \/>Photo Rob Gurney (Digital-Mechanic)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The Brandy Thieves<\/strong> established \u00a0themselves last year as a band with a large following of music fans and won many plaudits for their\u00a0original songs and exhilarating live performances.\u00a0Tonight The Brandy Thieves opened with their hallmark song <em>The Owl and the Pussycat,\u00a0<\/em>its memorable\u00a0opening bars breaking into a vibrant foot-stomping beat and the band soon made the room sparkle\u00a0with its music. Andrea Kenney, lead singer, is one of the finest band front-vocalists in the local area\u00a0and whenever she is one stage &#8211; whether with the &#8216;Thieves or as a solo artist &#8211; it is a memorable\u00a0occasion. The band&#8217;s magic brand of gypsy-folk, punk and ska music swells to fill any size of venue;\u00a0they have penned a superb set of songs which they perform with great relish and enthusiasm. So\u00a0many of their songs are memorable and all have a high degree of originality. This act is a duo\u00a0who are currently based in Leicester and have just released a new EP, called Found. They played all\u00a0but one song from this EP tonight and performed fantastically, captivating the audience really well.\u00a0They have a folky style quite similar to the album by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Expect big\u00a0things from this duo as they have already secured a support slot with The South (formerly The\u00a0Beautiful South) and are already writing songs for their next release.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thedaydreamclub\" target=\"_blank\">Follow The DayDream Club on Facebook<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The headline band for tonight was <strong>By The Rivers<\/strong>. Arguably the best known band from Leicester\u00a0after Kasabian, their music appeals to a wide cross-section of people and from the first song the\u00a0audience started to dance.
