Playing at the Leicester Music Festival<\/h1>\n

The Leicester Music Festival<\/strong> (LMF) will take place on 25th and 26th July at The Leicester Tigers rugby ground in Welford Road.<\/p>\n

The headline acts have been announced: UB40, Tinie Tempah, Professor Green, Katy B, Billy Ocean, Labrinth, Sam Bailey and Diversity are among them. The organisers hope to attract 44,000 people to the two day event.<\/p>\n

A competition called Play@LMF<\/strong>\u00a0was held in which the top prize was a chance to play at the LMF. It was open to bands from the Midlands.<\/p>\n

Speaking at one of the first round heats, Manoj Keshavji (one of the festival’s organisers) said \u201cWe are local lads who are backing Leicester. We could have taken this show to another city outside of Leicester but we wanted it to be here in our home town. We hope that you, the music fans of Leicester, will turn out to see the show. It is supporting a charity for children with cancer. The finances for the event have been provided by us and our sponsors have given us some support. We are proud to be helping to raise the profile of Leicester.\u201d<\/p>\n

Each heat was judged and the criteria was published on the Festival’s website<\/a><\/p>\n

Bands could enter if they were not signed to a record label and could adhere to other terms and conditions, as published on the competition webpage.<\/p>\n

We were not able to attend all of the first round heats to review the acts but most of them we have already reviewed elsewhere in this website.<\/p>\n
