Magic Teapot<\/strong> promotions hosts a candlelit, seated evening at the Musician showcasing three vocal talents.<\/p>\n

Lucy Davies-Kumadiro<\/strong> is a tuneful teenage talent writing songs about her experiences to date, such as her worst day at school, crushes and making life decisions. An OBS unplugged finalist alongside tonight\u2019s headliner, the relative newcomer to the stage showed little sign of nerves and engaged the audience plenty between songs.<\/p>\n

The slight huskiness to her voice and the quality of her delivery seem contradictory to her age. She ends her set with a song called The End <\/em>despite, as she admits,\u00a0 forgetting the words to it at Simon Says Festival. I\u2019m left thinking that if she has written such good songs already with her limited life experience, what classics will she pen to in the future?<\/p>\n

Jayde Morrison<\/strong> is next. Do you remember her? A few years ago, in a time when Myspace was the place to track bands, a Leicester duo by the name of Death, No Less<\/strong>\u00a0came to my attention. They only played a few gigs and I never got to see them live. A friend of mine did and described them at the time as \u2018his new favourite band\u2019.<\/p>\n

The singer was Jayde Morrison, the drummer Andy Bennett. Andy of course went on to We Three And The Death Rattle, Jayde\u2026 well I don\u2019t know what she\u2019s done in the intervening years, but she\u2019s here tonight and it\u2019s great to see her re-emergence. The style is little different from those Death No Less days. It\u2019s a confident acoustic set dominated by covers with a couple of her own songs \u2018to bore you with\u2019 she tells us. The doom laden angst of Death No Less is not present, but the powerful voice is still there and her own songs certainly aren\u2019t boring. So now we\u2019ve witnessed the re-emergence of Jayde Morrison, will we see the re-emergence of some Death No Less songs Jayde\u2019s set! I hope so.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a full band appearance from Elizabeth Cornish<\/strong> tonight so Matthew Russell, Adam Wykes and Jason Skinner add some power to Elizabeth Cornish\u2019s pop. Although saying that it begins with an impeccable solo rendition of Not As Strong<\/em>\u00a0by Elizabeth. But it\u2019s full band from then on and they\u2019re sounding good. The power and the pop combining to full effect in Above Ground, Harder and Folds<\/em>. The main set concludes with the new song We\u2019re Not Perfect<\/em>\u00a0but that isn\u2019t enough for the crowd who demand more. So Elizabeth and Jason reappear for a rendition of the seldom played Saint<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a busy period for them since they launched their album Displaced<\/em>. So they are soon to take a well earned break from gigging to concentrate on a second album, so you may not see them playing live again this year. But on the plus side\u2026 second album!<\/p>\n
