2014: Review of the Year<\/h1>\n

Our review of live music in Leicester was published in our article<\/p>\n

Here are some of the things that stood out in 2014<\/p>\n

The Year for young bands.<\/h2>\n

Seveal young bands (those where the age of most of the members is 18 or under) featured prominently this year.\u00a0 Many of them played at The Young Bands Showcase<\/a> gigs. Those that made their mark this year included Casino Empire<\/strong>, The World Can Wait<\/strong> and Flight 15<\/strong>, to name only three. Not just young bands but also singers and other artists impressed audiences this year with their teenage talent.<\/p>\n

Festivals in 2014<\/h2>\n

A bumper year for festivals saw many Leicester music fans making their was into the fields of Glastonbudget, Riverside, Leicester Music Festival, Hand Made Festival, Download, Bloodstock, Y-Not, Foxton Locks, Western Park, Hinckley, Cosby, Simon Says, Strawberry Fields, City Festival and Oxjam. Added to that music-lovers enjoyed Leicester Pride, The Mela and Caribbean Carnival.<\/p>\n

Series of shows<\/h2>\n

It was also a bumper year for series of shows, including obsUnplugged<\/a>, OBS<\/a>, I Wanna Be A Rockstar<\/a>, Play@LMF<\/a> and the Young Bands showcases<\/a>. Whether these shows had winners or not, they pulled in large numbers of people to enjoy good music. Bands and singers also played at the auditions for the Glastonbudget Music Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Singers and Soloists<\/h2>\n

Live music not just about bands and groups.\u00a0 It also features a large number of exceptionally talented individuals and duos who play their own songs and whose performances are among the best musical experiences available. This year. Many of them were on the lineups of obsUnplugged<\/a>. Many of the open-mic nights<\/a> featured artists of exceptional talent. Rappers and other hip-hop and urban solo artists continued to make their mark this year, including Jonezy<\/a>, KY (Kyle Jarvis), Tha Deadeye, Lacky C, and Dibbz<\/a>.<\/p>\n
