We were at The Cookie Jar, in the High Street,\u00a0 tonight to see the show headlined by Leicester band Abandon Her. The show was promoted by Dreaming In Colour Productions.<\/p>\n

On night’s line-up: Emily Carr, Reuben Wisner, Jolanga and the headline band Abandon Her.<\/p>\n

It is always nice to go to a show at The Cookie Jar. Seeing a line-up of quality acts is great; also, good to meet so many friends and mates from the music business.<\/p>\n

Opening the show was the young singer Emily Carr. Emily sang in a voice that was crisp and clear. When we saw her on 20th February, we said:<\/p>\n

Finely picked guitar playing and a well-toned voice, that was pleasant to listen to, delivered with tantalizing techniques, made Emily Carr\u2019s performance enchanting. An engaging young artist, Carr had a set of songs that made for delightful listening. Eloquent vocals and enthralling songs, a performance that was very satisfying. [Music in Leicester<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Rueben Wisner<\/h2>\n

One singer who has impressed a lot of people in recent times is Reuben Wisner. It is always a pleasure to hear Rueben sing; his vocals are very agreeable and his songs have a subtlety that makes them ear-pleasing. His guitar playing is of a high standard and in some songs he used a loop pedal. His songs have an acute sense of rhythm and tonight his stage performance was delivered with a particular panache. His songs are about feelings and are delivered with plenty of them.<\/p>\n

Jolanga<\/h2>\n

Three musicians had come from Manchester to play for us. Jolanga’s three musicians – Matt Ainsworth – Bass & Vocals, Tom Ainsworth – Guitar & Vocals and Bobby – Drums – have been playing together since May 2013 and are now signed to Scruff Of The Neck Records.\u00a0\u00a0 With their infectious rhythms they kept the crowd going and caught the mood of the night. Jolanga’s music had momentum and they got a good response from the crowd.<\/p>\n

Abandon Her<\/h2>\n

Leicester band Abandon Her is a singing band – Olivia Bowles (vocals), Abby Mottram (guitar, backing vocals), Giles Urwin (drums, backing vocals), Sarah Jordan (keys, backing vocals) and that is one reason to like them a lot. Good vocals and harmonisations are worked with melodic melodies to provide an attractive and likeable sound.\u00a0 I saw the band on 15th April 2014; I said<\/p>\n

The Leicester quartet Abandon Her had four female artists and all of them sang, including the drummer. Their set of original popular melodic songs came with plenty of umpf and clever backing vocals. Enjoyable music that was easy on the ear. The band\u2019s cover of the Rolling Stones Paint it Black was particularly enjoyable. [Music in Leicester<\/a>]<\/p>\n

and then again on 12th June:<\/p>\n

Three girls in one band made Abandon Her stand out in the usually all-male line-ups of most acts that we saw tonight. With their two vocalists and singing drummer, they offered a tantalising vocal layer for their set of popular tunes. Lungful and ear-pleasing they brought to the room a set of engaging music that was well-played and tastefully presented. [Music in Leicester<\/a>]<\/p>\n

A really enjoyable set brought to a final\u00e9 a night of superbly good music.<\/p>\n
