Original acts set to steal the show at Glastonbudget<\/h3>\n

The countdown for the world\u2019s biggest tribute festival, Glastonbudget<\/strong> has begun and promises an eclectic line up of original artists from across the Midlands. The Leicestershire-based event, in Wymeswold, is set to be a celebration of local talent in its 10 year anniversary. The festival takes place between 22nd to 24th May, which will see over a 100 independent artists performing on one of its seven stages.<\/p>\n

Highlights of the festival include the high energy punk band, Dead Frequency<\/strong>, whose style is described as a fusion of \u2018Green Day meets Van Halen\u2019 with elements of The Darkness. Since forming in 2013, the four-piece, Midlands band has toured around the UK with the likes of classic punk legends: Richie Ramone, U.K Subs and The Gimmie Gimmies.<\/p>\n

The Nuneaton-based, Indie-rock brothers, The Kingcrawlers, <\/strong>are\u00a0back after popular demand since performing at the festival for three consecutive years. Following the release of their debut album, \u2018Ride on Cowboy<\/em>\u2019, the boys achieved fame on BBC Introducing in 2013, whilst featuring on radio shows around the UK. The Kingcrawlers are a festival favourite and will no doubt act as a popular feature across the three days.<\/p>\n

Further home-grown talent will be provided from Before The Crash<\/strong> returning with their captivating stage presence and female-rock leading vocals from Shezza Wileman. The band\u2019s resemblance to Paramore and energetic sound is inspired by major acts, such as Muse and My Chemical Romance. The Leicestershire rock band\u2019s latest achievements include penning and releasing their original song: \u2018Braindead<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Fufu Sailors<\/strong> have been travelling the UK circuit for 10 years, providing fans with a range of genres in performances that specialise in cover songs, 60s soul tunes and 90s medleys. The five piece band affectionately dub fans \u2018The Fuffettes\u2019.<\/p>\n

Amongst the Midlands talent, festival goers will have the chance to experience the performances of major tribute acts such as, Kazabian<\/strong>, Four Fighters<\/strong>, Abba Revival<\/strong>, Oasish<\/strong>, The Darkside of Pink Floyd<\/strong>, Not The Rolling Stones<\/strong> and more.<\/p>\n

Leicester hip-hop artist Jonezy<\/strong> returns to the Icon Stage on Saturday 23rd May.<\/p>\n

Jonezy will be performing on the Icon stage at 7 pm on Saturday and Leicester singer Sophie Garner will be joining him on stage for some of his songs.\u00a0The Loughborough-based music artist appeared at the festival last year, when he was accompanied by the young Norwegian singer \u2013 Alexandru \u2013 who is now signed to the pop sensation boy-band Suite 16.<\/p>\n

The thing to remember about this festival, is that people who go to it love to party. The event always draws a wide cross-section of people including those with children. Glastonbudget prides itself in being a family-friendly event.\u00a0 If you imagine that running a festival of this size is easy-peasy – I can assure you that it is not.\u00a0 Over the 8 years that I have been going to it, I have watched the organisers in action and it is a credit to their skill, determination of resilience that they have been going for as long as they have been. Another thing that makes this event special is that it has held the commitment and involvement of some of its personnel over many years.\u00a0 That is always the mark of a good festival, that you can see the same set of faces year on year.<\/p>\n

At tonight’s launch show, Leicester band Skam<\/strong> made a big impact. The Skam guys have been regularly contributors to the festival since it started. Now with drummer Neal Hill (ex The Furies) the trio comprises some of the top-ranking musicians in the county.\u00a0 All three of them sing; all three are top musicians and wow! Do they know how to rock. Astoundingly good.<\/p>\n
