More music

Leics Music More Music (LMMM) started live streams with Leicestershire musicians in February 2015. The idea was one that Trevor Cobbe had toyed with for some time but he wasn’t comfortable that he had the audio expertise to do justice to the musicians. He decided to enlist some audio expertise and after speaking to local musician, Joe Doyle aka Homeless Shakespeare, the team was formed with Joe and his musical collaborator, Bhavik Solanki, who also broadcasts on Leicester’s EAVA FM.

The next hurdle was to find a suitable venue that would allow a weekly stream at minimal or no cost. After considering a couple of options, Trevor approached Greg Poole, the Venue Manager and Promoter at popular Leicester venue, The Soundhouse...

Clubs Wild Live

Wild Alive EP Launch

Secret Location
by Keith Jobey

Clubs is a band that revels in being a bit mysterious, so it was no surprise that the launch of their new Wild Alive EP involved a secret gig, announced a week beforehand,  with entrance strictly by purchased ticket. And happily for me I purchased one of those tickets.

It’s been a slow, steady but deliberate build-up from the band and there’s a feeling that this patience is about to pay off. Careful not to overplay their home town means headline gigs usually sell out. Well chosen support slots and appearances in the indie breeding grounds of The Old Blue Last, The Lexington and The Garage in London is helping to win fans further afield. Flying Kangaroo Alliance

Hypermonosonic Recording Studio

by Keith Jobey

On Sunday afternoon I had the privilege of attending a recording session at Hypermonosonic recording studio in Nottingham. I’d been asked along to take photographs in order to document a key event in the history of Leicester
band Flying Kangaroo Alliance. Having recently reached their 3rd anniversary they are at the studio to record what will hopefully become their second formal release, following on from the 7″ splattered vinyl Hit The Wall.
The two tracks to be recorded are Be Myself and Perfect Little Princess, both new songs recently introduced to their live set. Be Myself is to be recorded live in a single take while Perfect Little Princess is to be recorded by laying down the i...

I can’t wait to see MW at the album launch on 19th December.

It’s not just that I want to hear all those marvellous songs again; I love big gigs and have been to many, many previous shows put on by MW and The Heroes before them. They are iconic moments in the life of live music, as far as I am concerned. Lead singer Alex Van Roose has been telling me about Crossing The Rubicon for what seems a very long time. My sense of anticipation is overwhelming...
