Cabin Boy Jumped Ship
at The Soundhouse
This is a band you have to see as well as hear. I write about bands quite a lot and one thing I invariably comment on their performance value – or stage presence as I often call it. Did the band bring visual impact to their music? Did they live the music? Well Cabin Boy Jumped Ship is one band I can say “ticked all the boxes.” In their case the music and the performance fit together. If you go to one of their gigs – get down the front and watch them. Their powerful, rocket-propelled music blasts off like a Titan IV and then soars into the stratosphere pushing out thrust for the whole of the set. I am in awe of what they do. Some might call their music metal, some might call it post-hardcore, they call it ‘electronic metal core’ but hey, it’s just great. CBJS is one of the most exhilarating and exciting bands around. Tonight’s performance was earth-shatteringly good.
They are currently doing a massive tour of the UK – making them probably one of the busiest bands in Leicestershire (Melton Mowbray.) We think they have been around since about June 2013 – at least that is when they put their band page on Facebook.
MIl has mentioned Cabin Boy Jumped Ship before; we said:
Electro Hardcore metal band Cabin Boy Jumped Ship created a stir on Facebook when they announced the launch of their new video and song on YouTube: Illusions. They told us that the band ‘infuse metal inspired hardcore riffs and hefty breakdowns with a subtle djent influence then mix it all up with a dose of filthy dubstep, euphoric trance and brutal screamed vocals.’ Well, you have to check that out! [Music in Leicester]
So, if you have not seen this band before, make sure you do not miss them next time they play in Leicester. Believe me, it will be well worth it.
