Here’s a new band for you, Lacura. Their brief history to date can be summed up as follows: debut gig in January of this year, second gig supporting the Vryll Society at the Cookie in March and two songs uploaded to Soundcloud in May. Not much to go on but I’d heard mention of them and had a listen to the two available tracks which are good. Plus, if the Cookie were happy to give them a headline slot I figured they had to be worth seeing.

Night showcases young bands

OBS at The Musician

by Trevor Locke

Music in Leicester likes to celebrate bands.  We particularly like to celebrate the work of the next generation of bands – the teenagers who are the future of of live music. OBS gives young bands a chance to play at The Musician; not all of them will be able to do this in the formative stages of their careers.

Tonight’s show featured five bands that are making waves in Leicester:
Mid City, Flight15, Before The Crash, Stating The Obvious and special guest band The Chase.

Public shows to select acts for the Glastonbudget Festival started last year. The auditions had already started when we reported on the show held on 5 September last year. Tonight’s show was however the last in the current season.

The Glastonbudget Festival takes place on 22nd to 24th May.
