To open up the last day of the weekend we had Groove/Death metal four-piece Bloodyard, who brought some of the most powerful vocals of the weekend. Even though the crowd wasn’t as big as previous nights you could definitely tell that those who made it to the final day were absolutely loving Bloodyard.
Morass of Molasses were one of my personal highlights of the entire weekend, blending their amazing musicianship with humour, social commentary and insane energy. They were perhaps my top band of the evening as they really know how to put on an outstanding show.
Sertraline delivered a bittersweet set as this was the final show which current vocalist Lizzie before her departure from the band later this month. The performance they put on felt like a perfect way of laying this chapter of their careers and lives to rest. They managed to put on a fantastic show playing a good mix of older and newer material that truly felt like it just all fit in together perfectly regardless of time. Lizzie’s vocals will be missed, but the future of Sertraline still seems brighter than ever.
Next up we had melodic death metal outfit, Countless Skies who truly showed the raw emotions which went into the writing of their songs, with heavy guitars and powerful vocals. They even gave the audience a glimpse into the 20-minute epic title track of their newest release Glow. As the shortened version of the track came to a close you could even hear a few people shouting “Play the whole thing!!” so they were definitely well received by the crowd.
Finally, we had Shrapnel closing off the weekend and my God was that a way of ending the thing with a BANG. I really wished more people had stuck around till the end to see this amazing performance. Even with just a small crowd the guys in Shrapnel truly put on a performance that I would happily go see in an arena, with fast drums, loud guitars and strong vocals Shrapnel truly showed exactly why they had earned themselves a headlining spot.
Overall it was an amazing weekend filled with good music, amazing people and many drinks.
